This is what happens when FIA handed out places on the 2010 grid based on politics instead of facts. I'm pretty sure that Prodrive and a couple of the others that were turned down could have done a better job than the chosen ones.

This is sad news.

I always felt people have been too harsh on this team, as I think they've done very well given their severe lack of resources. They were being wise and solidifying and building themselves up. Fans are so hard to please these days. It would have been interesting to see how HRT would have done in the '80's or '90s. I deifinitely think they have been at a higher level than many teams then and would have scored points (top 6) somewhere.

It's not really their fault that Thesan Capital have reached financial disaster because of the economy.

I can't say that I am sad to see them go to be honest, they never seemed to get their priorities right, choosing to spend lots of money on a new factory in Madrid rather than spending the money on more important things (like designing the car for instance) really did not help. The fact that a GP2 car could lap quicker says it all really.

A very uncompetitive team, it must be said, but if the new factory is fairly good, you would think the team would be an attractive option, considering how difficult it is to begin from scratch. Wouldn't doubt if they are bought out and rebranded at some point in the coming months.

A lot of low budget privateer teams has come and gone (fallen by the wayside) as grand prix racing became ever more professional with the ever spiralling costs and lack of money, Onyx, AGS, Life, Aurobrun, Colloni to name a few, the notable exception being Minardi.
