@doodlebug - oh, alright then!

"Button began karting at the age of eight. In 1989, aged nine, he came first in the British Super Prix. He won all 34 races of the 1991 British Cadet Kart Championship, along with the title. Further successes followed, including three triumphs in the British Open Kart Championship. In 1997, he won the Ayrton Senna Memorial Cup, and also became the youngest driver ever to win the European Super A Championship. Aged 18, Button moved into car racing, winning the British Formula Ford Championship with Haywood Racing. He also triumphed in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch. At the end of 1998, he won the annual McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award. Button entered the British Formula Three Championship in 1999, with the Promatecme team. He won three times, at Thruxton, Pembrey and Silverstone and finished the season as the top rookie driver, and third overall. He finished fifth and second respectively in the Marlboro Masters and Macau Grand Prix..

@doodlebug -

Enough already!!!

You don't get to drive for the teams Button has without being bloody good. I mean Frank Williams, Dave Richards, Ross Brawn, Ron Dennis...they can't all be wrong, eh?

Maybe if Button had had the backing of McLaren, as Lewis did, he might have done even better.

Jenson Button

World Champion
Multiple race winner
A long F1 career
Lovely lady on his arm
Comes across as a gentleman
National standard triathlete
Travels the world

The list goes on.

I think if it were me I'd be rather pleased with myself and wouldn't give two hoots about the Lulu Fanboys in their semi-detached driving their Corsas with a big exhaust.

Good luck to all the racers next season. They all deserve our respect, each and every one.

Hey i can also copy and paste from Wikipedia!!

Just found this one, sorry couldnt find a similar one for Lewis

For 2001, Button partnered experienced driver Giancarlo Fisichella at Benetton, which had recently been purchased by Renault. He endured a dismal season: the Benetton car was very uncompetitive and he was consistently outperformed by his teammate. He finished 17th in the Drivers' Championship with only 2 points, with his best result being fifth place at the German Grand Prix. His poor form led to speculation he would be replaced before the end of the year team principal Flavio Briatore said, "Either he shows he's super-good or he leaves the top echelon of drivers", and reportedly offered him the chance to walk. Button believed that his inexperience showed as he struggled to help his team set-up a competitive car.His lack of success combined with an extravagant lifestyle led some to dub him a "playboy".

Fisichella apart from Badoer Ferraris worst ever driver!!

@smokin - could not agree more. Here, here!

That's the thing I can't understand. You don't have to praise one by slagging off another. I just don't get it. At times, this year, Button, by his own admission, struggled to get the best out of the car. Lewis had a torrid time last year. Massa outqualified Alonso at the last two races of this season! What does it all mean?

And with that he's away to earn a crust....

@Luca Badoer.....

This forum is a perfect example of brainless Hamilton fanboyism at it's best.

No thought involved, just spouting pure garbage.

First guys says (incorrectly) that the win stats are
LH - 10
JB - 7

All following posters re-post the same incorrect garbage and that's fanatical fanboyism at it's best. No thought, just regurgitate rubbish.

The stats are actually
LH - 10
JB - 8

Once again, the Hamilton fanboys have risen to the occasion.

I don't think anyone on here is saying Hamilton is crap and that Button is the best, but the fanboys are totally missing the point.

Before Button joined McLaren, the fanboys, in all their wisdom, laughed and declared to the world that Hamilton was going to SMASH Button.

Well, it hasn't happened, so it's either one of two things. Hamilton is not as good as you think, or Button is way better than you gave him credit for.

Which one is it fanboys?

Don't forget the stat about podiums....that both drivers have taken the past 3 years....and it's not Lewis that had the most....How can such an "epic" driver gather so many poles and qually advantages that he scores less podiums than this mere average F1 driver..in the past 3 years as teammates?.....You lot...have some serious issues with being such a fanboy with your posts...you guys are splitting hairs when comparing the top WDC's...Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel, Kimi and this also includes...Button....they are all close together... with Vettel coming out on top the past 3 years...regardless of car....The rest of the drivers do not belong because they have never won a WDC.....including Webber...It's worthless to spew out garbage about one specific driver over another because they are that close...and if you choose to go that rout...well, then....be just another fanboy...like some of the posters that change names like they change their "Depends" knickers....and you know who you are!
