It pains me to say it but this is the beginning of the end for Bruno. He failed to establish himself like his famous Uncle, the late, great Ayrton. Had Bruno been another Ayrton, Williams would have kept him on regardless - whether he had funds/ sponsorships or not. If anything, he'd now be at Ferrari/McLaren/Mercedes etc.

As much as I would have liked to see Bruno do well, unfortunately he hasn't got the raw speed required.

Maldonado, at the moment is a bit of a loose canon, but he has shown he has the speed required to make it in F1. His wildside can be cured and he can be moulded into a good racing driver.
F1 history is full of steady eddie type drivers, but the ones who have really made their mark, are the ones who can consistently pull those special laps out of the bag.

Yes, bruno may not be the fastest driver, but he's consistent, reliable and has money. Give him a 2 year contract at FI where he only misses at the most 5 FP1 sessions to say...Bianchi, he would have the confidence and would be able to apply himself much better and finish In he top 10 of the wdc, especially now that he has solid knowledge and understanding of how a consistent, reliable top 10 scoring team (Williams) works.

Im sorry Reliable and Consistent? i don't call 31 points Reliable and Consistent. He failed to make Q2 and Q3 more then PM and despite PM retiring more, still managed to scare 45....hardly Reliable. o and he still managed a win.

as i said at the top of the story, bruno is a looong way down the pecking order.. i see folks spouting the reliable and consistent line... hello!! none more reliable and consistent that quick nick.. the guy aint everyones cuppa but seriously - take a look at the boys record - imagine the points heidfeld would have picked up this year at williams , let alone if boullier had had the balls to keep him at renault with kimi.. points mean prizes folks..

@ Pinky

I don't deny he scored more points. My point was how much did he cost the team in terms of non points finishes and/or crashed the car. Sure he brings in millions (40+M from what I heard, not sure) but how much that did Williams get to keep with all his crashes and have to pay for repairs? Also all the potential points he didn't score which is also worth millions in the constructors.

I can't believe that people would seriously prefer the steady mediocrity of a guy like Senna over the mercurial speed (and potential) of Maldonado. Even if Maldo had crashed in every single race, just watching him set loose on saturdays, mixing it with the Championship contenders and giving them headaches is infinitely more thrilling than having your 'reliable' guy take a top-10 car and qualifying it 17th...

Bruno's sponsors have made it quite clear that they are not interested in a move backwards to a lower team.

Therefore I fully expect Bruno to be in a Force India next season or out of F1 completely.
