F1 » Vettel officially crowned F1 champion for third time

Sebastian Vettel: It's a fantastic feeling to be here tonight and to be able to take this trophy back home for another year. As I said last time, it isn't something you want to give back

@garth
Why do you say that? Do you think its a struggle to scrape by on $10m+ dollars a year?

Perhaps it shows that, unlike some other drivers, he is not motivated by money but by winning.

The remarks about the car continue to be lame. Nobody has ever presented a shred of evidence that the RB cars of the last three years have been exceptionally good, even when challenged to do so.

But lets ignore that little detail and assume the RB cars really ARE that good. So what? All the champions of the past - your Fangio's and Stewarts's and Lauda's and Prosts's and Senna's and Hakkinen's and so on - won their titles in decidedly superior machinery. Would Senna have ever won a title if he hadn't driven those great McLaren cars of the period? Probably not. The car has always been a part of winning the WDC - a bigger part in the past than at present. If you want to see drivers compete in identical cars, then follow a different class of racing.

U r right but personally I can't digest the fact that someone finishing 5th,9th,2nd, 4th, 2nd in wdc for past 5 yrs earns 3X the salary of someone finishing 8th, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st in the same championship.

Congrats to Vettel on achieving a third consecutive title. To further add, also congrats to 2012 other champs in other racing series e.g. MotoGP, NASCAR,WSBK, WEC,Indycar, etc. and here's hoping 2013 is exciting.

Sad that out of all the world champion drivers who participated this year, the most undeserving got the WDC!
Vettel - make sure Newey is a bonded laborer in RB for coming years to keep such half cooked WDC flowing!

I think there are more than a few who could have won the WDC if driving a Newey designed car. Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen , to name three. Red Bull is going to be tough to beat as long as Newey stays. Vettel will only get better as time goes by.

Yup, poor old Raikkonen. We can only speculate what he might have accomplished at this stage in his career if he'd only gotten a chance to drive one of those fantabulous "Newey designed cars". A lot more than that useless lump Vettel, I'm sure!

Ah johno, You sir will be along with the others making excuses when your hero cant win with nothing less then then a ebd driven best car. Cant wait to hear them !!!
The 2 others in particular will be the best to hear, I've already heard plenty of them only for them to get on their red wagon when Newey steps it up !!!! Says it all really !
