Next season will be hit or miss, I'm afraid. But it can't get any worse than the last few years.

2014, though, they can really be up thee if they play their cards right. Lewis may have just arrived at Mercedes at the right time when they are about to peak, finally.

@Taipan

Muhaha...

However realistically they'd probably jump at the chance to have him back. Even with all the drama, the kind of blistering pace he has, particularly over one lap, is an asset to any team and especially a top team. Furthermore I don't see Vettel ending up anywhere else than Ferrari when he leaves RBR and I very much doubt Kimi or Nando would be willing to go back there (Nando definitely won't, Kimi probably won't unless they guarantee him the kind of PR freedom McLaren doesn't want to guarantee their drivers), so if he's willing to jump back in the next, say, 3 years and McLaren needs a fast driver...

Ok maybe the only other team Vettel would be willing to move to instead of Ferrari when the RBR thing is over would actually be Mercedes IF in a few years time they finally produce race winning cars -in other words, move away from or build a completely new facility in Brackley-.

Him being a German and all, them being a big German brand and able to offer him the kind of paycheck Ferrari could.

The Merc will be good next year. It's clear that they stopped development on the 2012 car around half way through the season to concentrate on 2013 car while Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari have been developing until the last race. They could have an advantage on those teams now and that's probably how they got Hamilton on board. Brawn did the same thing at Honda, it ran at the back of the field the year he joined while they put all the effort into the next car, which turned out to be the Brawn...

mojo. of course it can be worse than this year, and probably will be! merc may peak, but getting the odd podium might just be their peak.

jjj. if you read whitmarsh's comments two weeks ago, you will see that he suggested that lulu will be back knocking on the macca motorhome, next season. maybe lulu will get fed up after six months? i wonder if he has a get out clause on his contract?

@Cl4yt0n

They've been saying that every year since it became Merc and they've generally failed to give Nico and Michael a decent car.

I'd be interested to see what's suddenly changed.

I submit they'll be looking for another driver after 2013. Jenson "No Grip" Button will be exposed next year. I'm still trying to figure out how he won that BRDC award. He should be embarrassed. Like I've been saying it just doesn't make any sense. lol
