i am always puzzled why lulu fans continually talk about lulu giving macca 1 wdc in five years. can they not count? he has given macca 1 wdc in SIX years. he was with macca in 2007. so when i went to school, in the dark ages, that makes...2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. that is SIX seasons.

ho hum!!!

Thats one out of 3 WDC in 21 years for Mclaren meaning Lewis has won a 3rd of all McLaren's WDC in the last 21 years... Thats an Average of 1 WDC every 7 years, Lewis won 1 in 6 years, I guess he exceeded his target.

Mark Blundell, Gerhard Berger, Coultard, Kimi, Alonso, Heikki and Button all flopped

Wow, It's quite remarkable that everyone seems to think that during the past six years he has only won one WDC by sheer luck. There is absolutely no doubt as to his driving abilities the issues clearly stems from McLaren's management and inability to provide a car that is consistent. As good as Button is I'm quite confident most people would say he is not in the same league as Lewis. I for one am rather glad Lewis has departed and we will be able to see how he performs in another team in comparison to his time at McLaren.

@ptolomy .i think you find clock did not pull over at all it was the weather that made him loose so much time on that last lap watch the footage mate! lewis drove excellent in 2008 and was the fastest. but then again he still is just pit stop errors mechanical fautls hulkenburg,maldonado and grosjean is the reason he didnt winn this year

Salan, his title had about .as much to do with luck as Vettel's three titles had. The overall picture of his last three years have been that on points, wins, podiums etc, JB and LH have produced similar results, both drivers have suffered from the teams failures, the closeness suggests that without Hamilton crashing of his own accord in Monza and Singapore (i think in 2010), several times in 2011, and Valencia this year, the outcome 'may' have been different. An erratic Lewis Hamilton will deliver very similar results to Jenson Button, an almost perfect season and he delivers similar results to Fernando Alonso.

@Andrew

Button has only driven for McLaren for 3 years, so as far as I can tell, according to you, he has another 3 or 4 years to match or exceed McLaren averages.

blublz, statistically that might be the case however I am by no means talking about his erratic performance in one season or another. I was talking more on the issue of his overall driving ability in comparison to the rest of the paddock. If you are referring to this season when you say an almost perfect season and he delivers similar results to Fernando, well I would have to add that if he didn't have such a high rate of DNF's he would have surpassed Alonso to boot. Never mind this is all part and parcel of F1. I sincerely hope Mercedes are 100% behind him and are able to give him a fighting chance. Come to think of it, it's the same engine as that of the McLaren so in essence they just need to develop the aerodynamics to a better specification. I must admit it is easier said than done though. Cheers for your insight blublz.
