Anyway that was a different era and every race was flirting with death. Sitting in a capsule surrounded by a fuel bladder and no seat belts because you wanted to be away from the car asap if you crashed. Was it Jackie who taped the spanner to his steering wheel for a "quick" exit?

He said early 60s and late 70s inclusive....
I'm sure Stewart of all people would know when and where Clark was killed, don't think he needs to be told.

Ummm did he say the 70s? Clark was killed in a F2 race at Hockenheim in 1968.

Agreeing with Taip. For lovers of the sport, as opposed to fanmboys/hateboys, the post schumacher era has been pretty good, totally boring races being the exception. The standard has risen tremendously too, both of the cars and drivers - now lets get back to some proper tracks!

2012 was a great F1 season and had a number of fantastic races. the tyre situation at the start was a bit silly but it calmed down as the season progressed.

Anyone who doesn't think it was a great season is a fan of a particular driver, not a fan of the sport.

I actually don't like continually posting negatively, but again Stewart is babbling. We all know this season was wild and crazy. I don't know if that is good for the sport or the fans, but I must admit that my adrenaline was pumping during the race in Brazil. This was certainly the most memorable season I can remember and Brazil was the most memorable race I can remember. For whatever all that is worth.
But why does Stewart have to allude to the fact that Vettel always has the "fastest car?" Astute F1 fans know that Red Bull was hamstringed by the series of new rules imposed this season, but Team Red Bull were able to persevere and claw back the titles at the end of the season anyway. Why should this be faulted by jealous old guys like Stewart?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that since 2005, F1 has been pretty damn exciting. I know there's been a lot of turmoil with rules, etc., but that also seems to create a lot of uncertainty with each new season, and keeps us on our toes. Compared with the predictable Schumi era, these laste 8 years or so have been spectacular.

@ Johno - So you think because of Webber that the RB7 was not a dominate car ???

Alonso 2WDC he had way more competition from people with close car performance.

BTW Im fair to Vettle when its due. I just can't stand people claiming he is a Schu, Clark, Fangio or Senna.

Anyway pleas write me a list of who "dominated" without a dominate car. There a very few people who won a WDC without the best car, but dominate the season without a dominate car, you will be hard pressed to find one.
