Its a quite shame actually, especially given his improved performance this season, especially with his suzuka podium.

Overall if he doesn't end up finding its going to be quite a shame at not having a japanese driver on the grid.

speaking of kobayashi's improvements, its quite a shame F1 doesn't have an award in place(similiar to NASCAR) to recognize drivers who have really improved alot as kobayashi would've gotten my vote.

This is a major disappointment to many , many F1 fans, we felt we had a rapport with Kobi ,he was a racer, a charger , and a character .At least Raikkonen is still on the grid in 2013 .Hope to see Kobi in F1 again but chances look slim now. Its like your dog died

I have lost respect for everyone involved in Formula 1. So many clueless people run the show now, anyone with an ounce of passion for racing can see Kobayashi is great for the sport and he just needs the right team around him to take him to the next level.

I will be following the F1 news solely from the news sites from now on, I normally view every session with eager anticipation, but without my fav driver.. What do I have to look forward to? Thanks F1 teams, you've just annoyed thousands if not millions of Kobayashi fans.

As with everyone commenting so far, I'm devastated... But let's not lose all hope.
Kamui, I'm still looking forward to seeing you back in F1 in 2014, if not sooner.
No doubt he's one of the best drivers without a seat now, and like Nick Heidfeld before, there's a chance he'll get a call even during 2013 if something happens to any of the hired drivers. Things like somebody getting: 1. race bans, 2. imprisoned, 3. injured in a bicycle accident, 4. cut mid-season by losing form, etc. etc. Not that I actively wish it would happen to the others, but it can and has happened before. After all, that was how the world first to got to know Kamui, stepping in for the injured Timo Glock. Best of luck, and keep going Kamui!
