Seeing as everyone is expecting him to finish midpack for the whole of 2013 this can be good for a surprise win because if Nico could win in it at China and Schumi got pole at Monaco imagine what Hamilton could do?

Not expecting a campaign for the driver's title but I don't think his first season is going to be as bad as people say.

I think LH/Merc in 2013 has parallels with Michael Schumacher and Ferrari, a genuinely top line driver dropping back to a mid-pack/struggling team. LH should benchmark himself against that, and if the team rises to the top over the next few years he will have earned our admiration.

I reckon Hamilton's move to Merc is to set himself up for the 2014 season when the engine regs change. Merc will probably have the best engine, he'll probably be in the fastest car if they can get the rest of it sorted in the next 12 months.

I can't see Lewis being able to develop a car like Schuey or anyone else.
Look at Alonso in a fairly rubbish Ferrari for a couple of years.
2010
Alonso - 252
Hamilton - 240
Button -

2011
Alonso - 257
Hamilton - 227
Button - 270

2012
Alonso - 278
Hamilton - 190
Button - 188

And you want him to develop the car? He has had better cars than Ferrari yet hasn't beaten Alonso since 2009, he hasn't developed the Mclarens, not bashing as such, but if you think he is going to do a schuey you're sadly mistaken, I will be surprised if he consistently beats Rosberg, one of the most mediocre drivers on the field

Lewis is in the top three drivers in the world without any shadow of doubt . He has taken the hard road and is to be admired for this . He will destroy Rosberg who is a second rate driver and he will drive the Merc towards the top and he can do no more . He is not driven by money , but a desire to be respected as a true talent which he will prove without any doubt .

The earlier he gets to grips with his new team the better his understanding and evaluation of how the Mercedes compares to the McLaren and where they differ. Overall his input will be a lot more than what the antagonist think he will contribute. I hope they can develop the car to be competitive.

there are rumours that berger is in the running to replace haug. bergers happy-go -lucky attitude could well be a breath of fresh air in merc. maybe he could help lulu lighten up a bit, and so improve the team?
