@Mark yeah to a degree this poll in Crash is a popularity contest but lets watch and see the complaints on the results on who takes the #1 F1 driver of the year voted by Crash posters. It should be interesting.

Hamster, i wish more people would take your line of thinking you prefer Button over Lewis but you look at the bigger picture and vote accordingly i wish one particular poster on here would try your concept when judging a drivers talents instead of talking about his earrings and facial hair.

Vettel had a real slow start to the season, he really came on strong in the second half and that's where he made his run. Alonso consistently out-drove his machinery all season long and did way, way better than he had any right to, considering the car Ferrari gave him. I don't think there's a question who the best driver was.

Vettel 4th with Kimi, Lu-lu and Fernando remaining? What a joke. Regardless of this lack of credibility, Seb has the trophies, the cash, and historical status as a 3X champ on the run that will outlive any pathetic flash-in-the-pan inter web popularity contest silliness.

1.Alonso 2.Raikkonen 3.Hamilton. That's my prediction. To my mind that's objective. Alonso outdrove his slower car and almost beat Vettel in a much more superior machinery. Kimi was an underdog, but came out as a comeback king, outperformed everyone but Alonso and Seb. And that's after 2 years away! Lewis was arguably the fastest driver of the season and failure to fight for the title wasn't his fault. We may argue whether Seb was better than Lewis, but there's no doubt Alonso and Kimi performed much better. So I don't see why some question objectivity of Seb's position in the ranking..

when Vettel was test driver for Bmw people were rightly shocked by his lightning pace, When he went up against multiple champ car title winning Seb Bourdais a number of people thought he'd be soundly beaten.. he promptly sent him scurrying. He signs for Red Bull & is paired with the very highly rated Mark Webber. you know the rest. people seem to forget they have the same car.. Webber has looked Sunday League on so many occasions compared to Vettel, He's far from my favourite driver. but give the guy the credit he deserves and think yourself lucky that you have the chance to see him make history. would you bet against him beating schueys records?

@ jim crint I look on Vettel's victory at Monza for Torro Rosso (in rainy conditions) as a one off. I compare it to Maldonado's victory in Spain this year because it was totally unexpected. It was a telling victory because u never heard from him the rest of the season. He never did anything after that until he got in an Adrian Newey built car at Redbull. I'm not saying that Vettel isn't a good driver, because he is. But, there's still a bunch of people out there who still doubt his prowess behind the wheel. This perception is the reason he only came in only 4th on this driver poll.
