“He proved he was the fastest driver out there this year” it doesn't look like it had much weight/input onto the pit lane team principals voting list/placing of the best driver of 2012, but it sure keeps clouding the minds of voters on these F1 sites.

Surprised he's third, I thought two was about right as he could have should won the championship had McClaren not cocked up on so many occasions, he was consistently fast and accident free this year and blew his hapless teamate into the weeds. I'm not a fan of his but the facts as usual speak for themselves and there is far too much biased claptrap on Crashnet for a lot of people to see this.

As usual the Lewis haters are here. You seem to forget, his car let him down twice while he was in a comfortable winning position, he was put to the back of the grid after qualifying 0.5s quicker than anybody else, he was wiped out by Hulk whilst in the lead in Brazil and he had numerous pitstop woes at the beginning of the year. Please remember, when Lewis was putting the car on pole and winning race, Jenson was lucky to get in the top 10. Another fact is without the failures/ botchup on fuel, both Maldonado and Raikenen wouldn't have won a race

Well given his year in total I suppose 3rd is about right, quite pleased really as I expected the haters to really knock him down. All I can hope for now is that Kimi knows what he's doing and comes in first.

And Button has only two points less than him... Some here have the feeling that he's 1 second faster than Jenson, then Vettel, who has more than 100 pts more than Webber, just won because of the car... Go figure!

Kimi top 2! jesus, he was third in the championship, his car had the best race pace for the first half of the season, he had an idiotic team mate who took out his rivals, his team and car was faultless and he was afraid to overtake anyone.

@sauberfan - it wasn't until late on in the season when Newey started to recreate the effect of the blown diffuser that Vettel started to pull away from Mark, I don't think Mark is capable of getting the most out of it.

What can i say crash posters are using their f1 knowledge as it is clear that the fastest in f1 should be now a double world champion, unfortunately according to the Mclaren team principal Lewis was let down by the team. Lets hope this exciting driver can help Mercedes to greatness next year and especially in 2014.

I do feel Kimi and Alonso do deserve to be above Lewis but not by much as i can only remember Lewis making one mistake this season and as many has said he should be the 2012 WDC.
