F1 was doing just fine before Bernie wangled himself the TV rights and took billions out of this sport, and it will do just fine once he's gone. He's had far too much out if this sport already (how much did Tamaras wedding cost?) and he should have retired 20 years ago.

When all you have to offer in terms of new ideas is 'fake rain', your time is clearly past!

People have short memories...
Yes, Bernie is morally repulsive but without him the sport would not enjoy the commercial success it enjoys today, and the owners understand this to be fact. He has been the Leviathan that has ruled over the various F1 structures that have come and gone or evolved, and despite being a racist, sexist man, he has been accepted because he made people a lot of money, Sad, really, and I hope he is truly gone. I do wonder how the vacuum of departure will be filled, and hopefully it will not be influenced too much by Montezemolo.

Without Bernie to block book everything F1 needs, the sport would be far more expensive with every team doing everything their own way. Ferrari and McLaren would battle to control the rules and Red Bull would be forced to join in. When any serious financial threat appeared, the teams would have no coordination and the sport could lose its position with TV and governments and disintegrate. Someone with similar talent and brass neck MUST appear.

Jim C, I don't know about Tamara's wedding but Petra's wedding which was paid for by BE'S wife which he described in a German court as (liking to have a drop of hi spin “my italics” from time to time) cost 12 million STG, the black eyed peas performance fee was 2.3 million US Dollars.
Beeflin, never heard of the saying, no man is an island.

A tribute to BE by his friend (at the time) Max Mosley, “the guy can enter a revolving door behind you but comes out in front of you”.
My personal opinion only, HIS TIME IN F1 IS UP.
