F1 » Lopez happy to silence Raikkonen doubters

Lotus team owner Gerard Lopez is happy with the contribution Kimi Raikkonen has made to the Enstone squad's revival, insisting that he always wanted 'drivers, not robots' in his cars.

F1 goes by image rather than results these days. Raikkonen is all style, little substance. F1 journalism is laughable to be honest.

I know that Senna never would've been beaten by a driver like Massa though.

It's a shame that so many people actually buy into the whole 'Iceman' nonsense. Seeing how quickly he dropped rallying was a real eye-opener as to what kind of talent he truly has. Not as much talent as the hype.

Open your eyes and look past the hype, he's a good driver but nothing particularly stands out with him assuming you don't get enchanted with his sluggish demeanour. If Raikkonen was truly special, Ferrari would not've broke his contract by forcing him out after 2009.

To actually come from circuit racing at achieve the level he did in rallying takes massive talent. Clearly you know little about rallying as the top guys are massively talented, hell even a lot of the amatuers are.

I think your opinion is based more on personality.

separated. it was not so much that ferrari terminated kimis contract. it was that santander wanted alonso in ferrari, and paid for kimi to leave, and also paid loads more for ferdi to get the seat. ferrari gained massiely from the affair.

wasnt alonso being outperformed by trulli in 2004 when the former got poles and wins while alonso got nil?? and then Flavio kick Jarno out of the team with 3 remaining races............damn overrated =P

Separated, he is truly special =P won a race and couple podiums in 2009 when the team stopped developing the car since germany LMAO. His engineers claimed it was not clear how kimi achieve those when simulator stated otherwise.

watch more races dude, guy with most retirement from leading races throughout his career due to car blowing up half way. Statistic only tell half the stories for amateur like you.

sadly people are too simple-minded to see past the whole iceman thing and constantly talk him up. he was only 3rd this year as his car didn't have nearly as many troubles as a few guys below him and lucky to not be involved in an incident.
people refer to him as if he can legitimately be in the top10 for all-time f1 drivers. how can you even justify that?
people get all too infatuated with the "iceman" thing and start to drool over him.

@ toast

kimi faced many mechanical issues too, however he brought the car home without retirement. Something that you only realize when you read team report. Hydraulic failure in canada, kers failure in silverstone, hungary, Spa, suzuka. Anti roll bar failure in Spa and Suzuka.

Also his amazing wheel to wheel action allow him to avoid obvious crash that happened so many time.

When your car was falling off the pace of the front since summer, getting a 3rd is by no mean an easy task.

I like reading those clueless comment that tried to bring kimi down but failed terribly in the eye of expert.
