golden oldie. instructions are not given to the marshals to wave green flags. rather it is they who are mandated to wave the green flags once they see the obstruction is cleared. they then provide the order for the lights to go off. that can take a number of seconds as it is relayed to a central operator.
in other words, marshals are the arbiters, NOT the lights. flags are mandatory, lights are advisory.

but i see where you are coming from. there should be NO delay

I can't believe I just found out they don't have a permanent steward. How is that possible? What a stupid thing to not have. That would be like not having the same commentators for each race. I could just imagine that, you tune in to watch the race and the two guys are speaking Spanish haha.

@ richard
We are thinking along the same lines - however, I would envisage a squad of around 15 - 20 officials, from whom each race's stewards would be selected. Allocations could be planned for the full season to ensure all the officials had the same number of races to cover. It would give a transparency - which is maybe why it probably won't happen!!!

sp. do you not think that 15-20 would be too many? it would be difficult to train so many to have the same opinion of an incident. that is why i felt a smaller number would be advisable. at least each member would be present at nearly all races, so giving the required consistency

granted that serious money would have to be paid as the job would be nearly full time, but bernie or fia could well afford it!

Im no fan of JYS but I might agree with him here. However, this much said, stewarding (in a "disorganised" way) is absolutely nothing new. In the 80's and 90's and during Alain Prost's era, such was the "disorganisation" that by the end of the F1 season back then, 3 or 4 of the races were in dispute.

whilst formula 1 is still run by the poison dwarf it will always be corrupt.
it was Maartin brundel who first high lighed the vettel over taking under yellows during the the race, but odd the stewards never noticed it.

it was decided by the poison dwarf behind closed doors that no penalty would be awarder as it was abvious he wanted vettel to win the championship

richard - F1 is a multi-billion business - surely training up 20 professional people (not necessarily from motorsport) to the requirements is not beyond the FIA - lets face it - those in senior positions are already skilled decision makers, so the training should not be so onerous, and with a driver steward as is already the case, and the all-important consistency and transparency should surely be possible.
