Kimi Raikkonen has said that he learns almost nothing from using race simulators and as a result makes very little use of them while preparing for upcoming races.

At last someone who cuts through all of the bull**** and 'mind screwing' stuff that these modern-day rip off merchants claim to be beneficial. Ok, F1 sims yes,but the others around are just cash-cows.
If you are any good,a circuit can be learnt pretty well within 6 laps, from then on its fine tuning.(if you are talented that is).

Simulators probably are not any good at modelling tire wear/performance. For the rookies they probably are better than playing PS3, but for someone accustomed to the steering wheel and the tracks, hes probably got a good point.

prof-x - I think you're underestimating the detail in the simulators. With the lack of in-season testing, simulators are used for electronically testing aero packages, as well as it cutting costs compared to developing scale models to run in the tunnel and then a full size one to run on track. Tyre data is included, tracks are accurate to within several millimetres, track surface is taken into account, etc. Kimi might not feel he learns anything from the simulator, but the engineers certainly do. They generally turn up to a weekend with a pretty good idea of set up and strategy and fine tune it from there.
