Hiring Gascoyne was a terrible move by then Lotus right from the get-go. The man got a lot of credit he probably didn't deserve for designing some cars at Renault (when he left, they won two championships) and then rode the money train to Toyoda, achieving absolutely nothing in his time there with the biggest budget in F1. That's the real disgrace, not Toyoda spending the money but him not delivering the results despite undoubtedly grabbing millions for himself. Then after he made a mess of things at Midland/Spyker, falling out with the drivers and Colin Kolles and now again he's been promoted away at Caterham and again blames everybody for lack of results except himself.

As the guy who interviewed him, I have to be neutral, but he did also make some comments off the record, that I could not include... Nice of him to me an interview though - he had a kidney stones operation yesterday, so probably a bit worse for wear!

"Heikki should have shown more respect"? Really? He should never ever have signed for Team Malaysia. It was never going to do any good for an ex-McLaren driver. He should have realized that and has only got himself to blame.

I totally agree with the comments about Gascoyne, always promised to deliver next year, never did. At least he is consistent. Notice he says they want to be solid mid-field. I bet Fernandes is delighted he has such high ambitions. Not.

Interesting comments about Kovalainen, obviously a back story we don't know and may never know, unless Heikki wants to comment. As a driver who does'nt have money behind him he would always go for a drive that pays. It seems Gascoyne is blaming him for poor performance despite performing better than Petrov. The only difference is Petrov can buy the drive.
