Kovalainen and Kobayashi both out of seats... hmmm... Bernie should fund a "wildcard" team made up entirely of the castoffs of current teams! Have Eddie Jordan run it (LOL), get customer engines & chassis supplied by the manufacturers. Guaranteed to be at the back, but it'd be great fun to watch. (OK, it's a totally ridiculous idea, but it's nice to dream.)

John Surtees should take over from Ecclestone. Be great to have a true racer, a real legend, with F1 in his blood to run this sport, instead of some money grabbing soul dead who prefers the company of sheiks and bankers to sportsmen!

And give that guy a knighthood....totally agree with that!

I will agree with John (Surtees) that there are too many categories of racing before F1, in fact to my own embarrassment there are so many I do not even know how much. I cant say the same about "talent" being in F1 though nowadays....its far too much of a 'Rich Boys Club' now. In fact I'll probably go as far as saying Bernie Ecclestone's F1 is to what Simon Cowells X-Factor is, a celebrity based 'sport' where the pay drivers queue up to be given a job by the boss!!!!!!

He is ever so right!

I remember like the day of yesterday when he ran his F5000 team with the Surtees TS11 winning the British F5000 championship with Gijs van Lennep.
Gijs never brought bags of money but was, as John says, one of these drivers who delivered and what was shown on the stopwatch!

In the end it all boils down to teams not getting enough prize money for the positions they get, back field teams have always been pure pay driver teams but now its moved up to the high end of the mid field, the problem comes down to the fact as f1 has gotten bigger the percentage of money won for the teams has decreased, its not a simple thing for the teams to get more profit its the fact they need these pay driver to simply stay on the grid, its getting worse in the last year or so as teams prepare for budget increases for the 2014 Big reg change.
