Forti I think had a budget in 1995 of about 15 million, Ferrari were spending about 120 Million. Shame the small teams of that era were alternative an in their own way cool, even if the Simtek was dangerous...

I was a supporter of Simtek in 94 and 95... still have a Simtek tshirt, actually, and I never heard anything about it being dangerous. Would you care to explain?

As for Forti, in their first year in F1 they had a slow car and lots of money thanks to Diniz, then in 96 they had a better car with no money. Shannon just put the nail in the coffin.

Caterham, Marussia and HRT have been slated for being so slow but back in the mid nineties there were teams 10s slower and more, with up to 28 cars in quali and a lot of slow teams, it brings things in to perspective. 26 cars were allowed to race until the 107% rule was brought in for safety, but before that it was hell of a lot harder for the front runners with no blue flags for them to pass.

I can't remember who was commentating back then but one quote sticks in my head. "They must call the team Forti because they are lapped 40 times every race".
