Not sure how long Button's contract is but Di Resta must be in the running to replace him especially if he has a good 2013 season and Button fails to live up to expectations. Only problem might be Raikonnen wanting the drive if Lotus don't keep improving.

this seems to be the normal sort of statement by any driver who wants a move. lift the phone, say "i'm free", and listen to the phone being put down. that constitutes "talks". look at how many drivers say they have "had talks" with other teams. why, even karthikeyan has probably "had talks" with macca....and ferrari....and merc....and etc etc.

the simple fact is that di resta has not shown any real promise, that could elevate him to a better seat. better luck next year!

@ Richard ... Very funny! ... :-) ... I'm in agreement with you, its too easy to say there is interest, we've had talks etc ... about what though? ... McLaren run Merc engines, but I've always said they will be back with Honda come 2015 ... Di Resta is Merc through and through ... this, for me could be one huge factor in the decision to leave Di Resta where he is ... The telling part of that report is where he said " I don't want to give away too much " ... Ummm! ... There is a few clues if anyone wants to read enough into it ... Lets not forget, FIF1 have STILL not confirmed Di Resta for next year ! ... ???? Is that another clue? ... "scratch head"

Every drivers have tried to talk to place in big team.
The important thing is the big team needs to come down and talk to you if they think you have potential talent. Otherwise it's nothing news for us.
