If his name wasn't Senna, I doubt he would have ever got a shot in F1 in the first place. I'm not saying he's the worst driver to ever be in F1, but there are better drivers who won't be on the grid next season.

its the same old story pastor and senna. same as lewis and jenson. lewis has the outright raw pace and jenson has the finesse and experience so they cant be compared. even though lewis is the better driver lol.

LJ, do you remember Damon Hill? It's maybe the only driver we can compare with Bruno, as both started their careers very late and both have famous surnames. Well, Bruno got to F1 purely on merit and deserved more to be in Brawn in 2009 than Damon Hill deserved to race with Williams in 1993. Damon needed 10 years to get to F1 after starting in single seaters, Bruno needed only 4 years. Hill never won a race in F3000, Bruno won 3 races in GP2 and was second in the championship. The problem is that in F1 a lot depends on the opportunities a driver has and Bruno was very unlucky after matching Button's speed on the test he did for Honda late 2008. Had the japanese not retired Bruno would have done much more testing and would have driven alongside Jenson Button for his rookie season. I'm sure he would have done at least as well as Hill did in his rookie year and probably he would have done even better, as he showed more talent in junior series. He could have won races and for sure he would

...he would be a better driver now, much more developed. Even so he is already as fast as almost the entire grid in race pace and can improve a lot in qualifying if he is given equal conditions to others.

Marius, what those numbers say is that Ayrton had better cars than Bruno. Ayrton was maybe the best ever F1 driver and Bruno could never match him after starting his career so late. But he did enough in junior series to deserve a good seat in 2009 (compare with Damon Hill) and had he started with Brawn I'm sure he would have better results in his rookie year that Ayrton could achieve with Toleman, just like Damon Hill also had better results than Ayrton in his rookie full season. Luck and opportunities sometimes make all the difference. Bruno spent 2009, 2010 and 2011 losing ground to other young talents, he couldn't develop at the same rate. Even so he did reasonably well with the conditions he had in 2012 and can still improve a lot if he is given a second proper full season with a midfield team.

Furthermore I had never seen a driver losing 15 FP1 while his team mate was always in the car. So Bruno is yet to have a season in which he can fight in equal conditions with others. What I see is that he is often underrated by most people and even the media, maybe due to his famous surname. I'll give you an example: last year Hulkenberg was always behind Paul Di Resta in the first half of the season, as the scottish had more experience racing in Force India. Imagine Senna gets the Force India drive and is beaten by Paul Di Resta in the first half of the season. People will say Senna is not good enough. Do you see it? Hulkenberg is probably the best of the new talents and people forgive him being beaten due to not having the same amount of experience his team mate had. But they will say Senna is no good if he gets beaten for similar reasons. They will forget Di Resta will be in his third season of racing with Force India while Senna will be in his first. I say this being sure Senna wil

...Senna will match Di Resta all year. I just don't expect him (or any other driver Force India might hire) to do what even Hulkenberg didn't do in the first half of the year.
