F1 » Button: If McLaren give me the car, I'll do the job

McLaren's Jenson Button is feeling refreshed and is raring to go in the countdown to the 2013 F1 season

@nick ,at the beginning of 2012 the car was to his liking but he soon struggled as the car developed.
In March, CRASH.net reported him saying,
"We don't need more bits, we've got it all on the car already," Button insisted, "I'm a lot happier with everything compared with last year. We're not running round scratching our heads wondering what we'd done wrong. Last year, we had problems...

Then later in the year, came his defeated statement in my first post. As so many have said, with the same equipment, "he operates in a very narrow window". So, how can you say "he will be a force to be reckoned with throughout 2013.."

@miffy - why would McLaren want to sign Kimi? Sure he had a good year in 2012, but he may just as easily go off the boil again as he did at Ferrari in 2008 (I'll say it again, if Kimi's so great, a true ace, why did he not beat Massa in 2008, when he had the number 1 on his car?).

Even in 2009, at the point when Massa was injured, after 9 races, both having two retirements, Massa had 22 points to Kimi's 10 so who's to say that Massa wouldn't have beaten Kimi again if he'd raced the whole year.

At least with Perez and Button having a similar style McLaren have the chance to fashion a unified direction for the car.

@clelia - jeez...that was a telling contribution!

Button is the '....most useless of all WDC of this era!"

Let me contemplate the deep significance of those well-chosen words....! While you contemplate the stark (for you) but very real possibility that Jenson Button could well be, at the end of this year, 'the most useless two time WDC of this era!'

Won't that be a peach. I hope he does it just to get your goat!

Ah.... Here we go again.

And if he does pull it off, the trolls will scream "LUCK". Jenson is very capable, still on of the best race drivers out there. Great tactician too.

If he can sort his qualifying he will be right there all year.

Don't forget, people had a lot to say when Vettel won his first...

I love how all the Button haters (Hamilton fanboys) conveniently forget to mention 2011.

Let's for a minute just forget the fact that he SMASHED Hamilton by more points than Hamilton ever managed to beat him by and concentrate on the season as a whole.

If not for the HUGE superiority of the Red Bull, Button would have been WDC in 2011.

He didn't just beat Hamilton, as all the Hamilton fans would have you believe, but he also beat everyone else, including the other driver you are all having a love in with at the moment - Alonso.

Is this not true?

i remember him saying "this year there are no excuses" after winning the australian gp. then "fernando is not a threat" now he is saying if he gets the car he will beat the field, but as usual time will tell. i like how he is now using the word massively. lol, must be something in the water
