There aren't any Portuguese F1 drivers on the starting grid, so i think the show should go over to France. However, the Portuguese, Turkish and French bids all hinge on their ability to pay the fee or raise the fee Bernie is asking. As we have seen with driver selection, it's all about money, and Bernie wants lots of it.

Maybe not, and maybe it's a bad idea for the portuguese to cough up to Bernie, irresponsible spending and all that, but from a purely egoistic opoint of view I would absolutely LOVE to see this happen. I think F1 at Portimao could be truly epic!

Portugal may not have the finance to stage the race, but from a solidarity standpoint, it would be good for F1 to help countries suffering tough recessions. 35M is peanuts for Bernie but an event like that would be huge for the region most hit by the recession

I thought Portimao was having financial problems and almost lost it's WSBK race last year to Jerez. Have they got themselves out of trouble?

The Portuguese Gp would only be possible if we had representation in F1. I don't think there are enough investors to cover Bernie's fee, nor is our government willing to help (they didn't even pay Monteiro's Gp2/Gp3 Ocean Racing's promised millions). If Felix da Costa was around in F1, there would be a slight possibility. A very slight one.

Really sad, Portimao has a really nice track, and everybody loves Algarve

Feel sorry for the guys at Codemasters who now only have 8 months left to before F1 2013 comes out. Will be very tricky to get a new track in there in that amount of time.
