Hopefully he won't be number 2. He might well find himself in that situation this year, being his first year at a top team. But hopefully he'll take the fight to Jenson next year at least

To compare times at this stage is a bit pointless. For one, if it's his first outing in the car and he's not even physically comfortable with his seat yet, and doesn't have the visibility he wants or still has to get used to it, it goes without saying he's not going to be as quick. That's aside from the fact that the focus at these early tests isn't on breaking lap records.

As long as he shows some flashes of outright speed over button and has a little bit of consistency Mclaren will be happy, i don't think he has what it takes to outclass button this year but he could of a good chance in 2014.

Think Kimi in 2002, didnt outscore coulthard but layed the foundations for the title run in 2003.
