Sean, agree Mr smooth did outscore Lewis over three seasons but Lewis did beat him 2-1 over the three season.

If Manu pips City twice over three seasons to the tittle but city out pointed Manu over seasons the winning of two titles would take president over how many points being scored, just as Lewis beat button in 2010 and in 2012 to buttons 2011 performance, so the inter battle at Mclaren would be 2-1 to Lewis as the seasons always comes to a conclusion and at the end of that season the better driver for that season will come out on top and the season victories since Jenson has arrived is 2-1 to Hamilton.

As a Jenson fan i am a bit sad that Lewis has gone because i have not seen Jenson beat Lewis over a season when Lewis is focused. If this was to happen i could and would gladly say Jenson is an equal to Lewis but i really cant.

@SJ ... really? ... you REALLY need me to tell you what points bring to the team ... seriously????

this is day one stuff mate, but more points = more income / money ... I'm really confused that you couldn't pick that up !!!

So lets look at it another way, per point, Jenson is much cheaper that Lewis ... and as far as I'm aware, the only title Lewis one was with the help of our friend Piquet ... crash-gate 08 ... you probably didn't know that as a new fan to the sport ...

UNBELIEVABLE!

sean. you are also forgetting "we are racing alonso" and the red light incident, together with flips engine blowing, AND the glock mess up!

there was a hell of a lot of luck, but then i guess that ther have been other titles won by luck, rather than by ability.

Your all going on about the difference between Lewis and Jenson. When Jenson stops moaning about the heat that he cannot get in his tyres then he is quick. But he moans too much and is a real big head when he says that McLaren have designed the car around him has he not got a team mate or has the team been renamed Jenson McLaren. When he gets his head out of Whitmarsh's A*** he may drive better

@ SJ, again, its not an attack, its an observation, and one which you cannot argue with. Jez, surely you should know the basics?... don't be annoyed at me for pointing it, be annoyed with yourself for not knowing such a basic thing in the sport that you follow ... especially when you post in forums where there are experts or fanatical fans lurking! ... you can wipe your eyes now ... lol

This might be bordering on baiting but I have to say, realistically this discussion of Lewis/Merc vs Jenson/McLaren isn't really all that relevant at this point. As I said, they may well be close in Q if Merc have done a decent enough job but as expectations stand at the moment, Lewis' main opposition this year is not Jenson or Perez but rather the likes of Hulkenberg, Maldonado or Di Resta. In fact if he even finds himself in regular points scoring positions he will do well considering where Merc were in 2012, so talking about challenging McLaren for podiums and wins seems quite over-ambitious.
