Mika Hakkinen says he doesn't think Mercedes will be a challengers during the 2013 F1 season

In some respects I can agree with Mika. In three years they seem to have stagnated and shown no signs of improving. I mean, the cars have been chewing their rear tyres up since they were Brawn and Honda.

What exactly was he expecting? Even if Merc where fastest on all 4 days people would have just said they had low fuel. If I recall correctly Vettel was 8 tenths off the fastest time in 2011 pre season testing and then he dominated qualifying in Melbourne.

Up to this first testing season the Mercedes has the biggest drop off in performance on the longer runs out of the top six teams (tyre degradation).
Nice new format Crash but the site is still near impossible to use due to the slowness which seems to be getting worse.
