@Richard. Relax. It's just a bit of fun trivia after all and for you to respond to the question, you obviously cared enough to try answering it in the first place.

googol. i suppose that there is a difference between spraying and pouring! i have certainly seen pictures of fangio and nuvolari upending bottles over surrounding celebrators.

apart from that, who the hell cares who was or claims to be the first person to shake a bottle of overrated fizzy wine, over others?

Jackie stewart is the greatest legend of all in his own mind. Bragging about being the first champagne squirter is just more proof. I bet there were lots of people who put their thumb over the bottle and shook it up before.
Next. we'll hear how he was the first F1 driver to do jumping jacks right before he got into the car to start a race.
You guys should have seen him parading around Indianapolis with a kilt and bagpipes a few years ago. He truly is shameless.

Jackie Stewart claimed he was the first F1 driver after a GP to do it in his autobiography. Someone should show him the picture of Graham Hill doing it in 1966. Stewart acknowledged that Dan Gurney had done it before at Le Mans.

Nice work Selma.

Hell yeah!!! Enough testing, lets get the racing on the way I say lol
The question was the first f1 driver who SPRAYED champagne after winning a grand prix not how long it was presented after a grand prix but it turns out we were both wrong. There's an article about it and a picture of Graham Hill spraying champagne in 1966 at a GP in Australia in 1966, a year before Dan Gurney did it at Le Mans and 3 years before Jackie Stewart.

selma. YOU must be really motivated then! havent you also repeated yourself?

as regards jackie. how do you make that out? champers has been received by winners since before jackie was born!

but dan gurney was the first to spray everybody around him.

I guess Red Bull are motivated more than ever if they are having to repeat themselves lol
I'm guessing its Jackie Stewart being the first to spray Champagne on the F1 podium
