I may be wrong lads, but I do believe Vergne's agency had issued a statement that the interview bits were taken out of context. It was purely a hypothetical situational question, and honestly it should have still been avoided.....but Vergne is a rookie, rookies are prone to mistakes.

In addition, I just want to see what he can do in a decent car (even for a couple of races!), be it Webber's or whoever's seat, I dont care. He has talent, I just want to know if he can replicate what he did in Formula Renault in the big league, FORMULA 1.

If so, Vettel will be FINALLY challenged and I can only guarantee that Prost will give Vergne his "smirk" (thats as close to a compliment that one can receive from The Great Professor...cheeky b*stard! :)

googol. ricciardo was certainly talking himself up before last season. and as for the comment by vergne that he, in a rbr could do as well as webber....i guess that we will never know, but look at how many posters claim that alonso, lulu, schumi etc would all do better than even vettel in an rbr. so by default, they are claiming that they could do better than webber in a rbr.

Richard,

Perhaps you could provide an example of when Ricciardo "spouted off"? I would be most interested in what your understanding is of that phrase. We all know of the claims by Vergne that he thought he could at least do as well as Webber in the RBR which was a classic "spout off".

tomcol. didnt achieve much? he beat his teammate, and that is the first person who you must beat! as for spouting off, he certainly did not do any more than ricciardo!

@Richard:
I was not going to mention the episode due to respect for our Aussie comrades =D

But in all seriousness...I've been watching the lad since the Formula Renault days and his rise has been METEORIC. Vergne always had this undying hunger come race day, he had always been sticking his nose into the corners even with a less superior car....thats when he won me over. Watching the 2012 season, he has nothing to be ashamed of. If he does what he promised to do: Improve from the previous season, then his talents would be recognized. BUT THATS A BIG IF in formula1. If the boy wants it, let him fight for it...the racing Gods will be watching....

TUNE IN NEXT TIME FOLKS...Aussie Grand Prix in only 19 days. Can't wait for the bloody season opener!

hail. not to forget that ricciardo took out vergne on one occassion, and on another, vergne was well into the points ahead of ricciardo, when schumi ran up his backside. ricciardo seems to be a better qualifier, but vergne seems to have the legs on him in race conditions.

@JJJ: It is all trivial to say the least, but regarding the qualifying times....the rookie last season in the team was Vergne, he did not know 75% of the tracks he was on and yet with that handicap he still managed to outscore his opponent (which apparently the managers at RB/TR care about). And ofcourse favorable circumstances have to be mentioned because it seems on couple of occasions it was all down to luck. But in F1, numbers speak louder than words.....overall, Vergne was exceptionally average last season and yet he came out on top. In addition, he seemed to have done his homework during the winter season and I noticed that he outpaced Ricciardo both in Jerez AND Barcelona. With that said, I agree with Luke wholeheatedly, this season is the ONE that matters for both of the drivers. Well, they better not bottle it!!

Love means never having to say you're sorry , does that mean they won't be holding hands anymore ? why are we being subjected to this garbage , I thought this was about Motor Sport , its sounding like a teenage girls magazine , who gives a sh+t what they feel about each other
