Sam, I say technical genius because he was the driving force behind all of Michael Schumachers 7 WDC as well as half a dozen constructors championships. The numbers don't lie. Lets be fair it was his car, and double diffuser concept at Brawn. Honda just paid for it.

So Merc have what, 5 'big name' designers on their roster now? I don't see it working. Better move would be to take all those telphone number wages off the balance sheet and offer the money to Newey. I seriously find it odd that both of these apparent unlimited budget teams (Ferrari, Merc) make Newey an offer he can't refuse. I don't know what he makes at RBR but I think if Ferrari or Merc offer him 10 million per year he'd have to think about it. That'd be a great deal. Hell as a Ferrari team boss I'd offer him 20. You can skimp on the driver's salary cause a good enough driver will suffice and you'll get 50 MM for a championship.

FAIL- I mean I find it odd they DON'T offer him a 'crazy' deal.

The guy even finally made Nige a champion, gave pensioner alain a 4th championship, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve...

In fact Sauber should get Karthikeyan on board for 20 million then employ Newey and they'll be champions within 3 years.

I suppose that given a phone number pay offer, Nealy would turn it down right away, judging by his comments... or not.

What a more-on!

If you wish to be a strong contender, make sure all the important pieces of your operation are happy at least.
Its not like he traded mclaren for a useless team, backed by a petrol owner new money sheik, is it?
