A much deserved recipient of this award. A true great, holder of a unique double and about as brave a man as you'll ever meet.

If I had my way it would be Sir John Surtees. He's accomplished far more in his life, and is a far worthier person than that blithering idiot who (supposedly) runs the NHS!

Big John should have been knighted years ago. He has been a hero of mine since the 50s and particularly since my brother appeared in a TV advert with him at Brands Hatch in the 60s. I don't believe he has ever received the recognition he deserves. Nowadays you only have to win a bicycle race to get a knighthood...

The most overlooked Englishman ever.
I honestly can't see anyone ever making the transition from two to four wheels ever again.
I really thought Rossi was the one with a faint chance but apparently,that ship's sailed now.
Also,as a previous poster said-a perfect gentleman too.
It's a shame they don't make them like this anymore.
