McLaren have admitted themselves this car is pretty much completely new, while the rest of the teams have continued with their cars from last year so McLaren being slightly behind is to be expected. They do have some serious potential in that car though. In the tests some of Button's times were very impressive and even in the race simulation in Oz they seemed to be pretty quick.

Yeah, unlike Hamilton who performed every year achieving a HUGE best of 4th in the WDC for the last 4 years.

Proper performer!

dont let some other facts to confuse you- without all the technical failures, terrible pit stops etc. LH had----the gap from button would have been embarrassing. He had critical problems in 10 out of 20 races.
Can you name 2 mistake LH made last year? (driving)

@to bob

have to agree with you there , i know vettel and alonso had a number of DNF but if look at the way twitmarsh and mclaren as a team performed with hamilton i think they threw the title away last year i really do

Button got trounced by Hamilton last year

Button 1 pole in 3 years cmon that is just slow!

Hamilton also retired from the lead 3 times last year the same amount as Button won!
Good job for Button that happened really otherwise the stats would be very embarassing for him.

Just waiting now for someone to say " well he outscored Hamilton over the 3 years blah blah blah"

Thats the only stat he won, Beaten on poles, wins and champ positions over 3 years and now this season i think will be his last at Mclaren
