F1 » Button worried by lack of McLaren pace

Jenson Button might have won last year's Australian GP, but on Friday he couldn't even crack the top ten at the end of free practice.

Burron is a great driver on his day. But to be champion you need to be consistently brilliant and have a decent car or have a car with something which gives you a ridiculous advantage, something like a double diffuser

Their decision to scrap last years car - the fastest in the field - and start from scratch this season is looking like a disaster. Is it too late for them to dust off the MP4-27 and put it back into service?

salan. there has not even be a race yet! and you are saying that mclaren are having a disaster?

so if ferrari dont win, are they having a disastrous start?
if red bull ditto
if lotus ditto
etc etc etc.

the first race does not make a season, and all cars will probably have some problem

i have never heard of a team giving up the season even after a race or two. it is well known that when the teams return to europe, is when the real pecking order is seen. most teams class the first three races as testing, and then improve.

its amazing, the number of doommongers here!

The problem is Buttons lack of faith in himself and the car! The other problem is Buttons lack of skill behind the wheel. Another problem is Perez isn't a great qualifier. Link these up together and you will find its a mixture of Poor management and lack of skill!!!
OH DEAR MACCA OH DEAR!!! Lewis leaving the titanic at the right time it seems... HAHA

@Darth Vader

"The problem is Buttons lack of faith in himself and the car! The other problem is Buttons lack of skill behind the wheel. "

Are you talking about the Button that outscored Hamilton over their 3 years as team mates? Is that the Button you're talking about?

So if he has a lack of skill, and he scores more points in 3 years than Hamilton, does that mean Hamilton has even less skill?

Just wondering.

There was no way that Mc was going to let Hamilton out shine Button. Hamilton beat himself plain and simple! That would be like Fer letting Massa out do Alonzo or Webber out doing Vettel. Knock Hamilton all you want but when a team wakes up an makes him the number one driver and not play games like Mc did, he will be hard to beat. PERIOD

Quick question to all the Hamilton fanboys, if you'll all stop laughing for 5 minutes.

Do you all hate Button so much because -

a. He out scored your idol Hamilton?
b. The team instantly liked him more than Hamilton?
c. He achieved a highest WDC position twice as good as Hamilton ever achieved over 3 years?
d. He won his WDC the very first year in a competitive car, as opposed to Hamilton who took twice as long?
e. He didn't get smashed by your idol at all, despite the predictions, scoring only 2 wins less than Hamilton?
f. He can actually call strategy during the race, as opposed to relying on the team or just plain cocking it up like Hamilton does oh so often?
g. He has a girlfriend who isn't a whining pain in the ass?
