No, no damage was done, there are two things to it, (1) the development of their advantage (spells diffuser) which was more advanced than others could not now be developed any faster than the others were developing theirs (2) at least without the aid of using illegal engine maps, put simply the others caught up and legally at that.

Yeah right the top boy just couldn't pass Adrian for the longest part. Be nice if Force India would have finished higher for the effort they put in initially. The most unappreciated mid teams in the sport.
