F1 » Lotus flowers in Albert Park with Raikkonen victory

The 2013 F1 season is underway, and already there's a surprise: Kimi Raikkonen drove a text book race to calmly outwit Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel to win the first GP of the year.

What a great result, just what was needed to liven up another potentially Vettel dominated season. The pecking order in F1 is changing with Lotus and Mercedes starting to move McClaren out of the top three, long may it continue.

Great job to Raikkonen, Lotus, Alonso, Ferrari and especially to Pirelli. I always said that races with only one stop are on Vettel's and Red Bull's favour considering their qualifying speed. But with many stops per race they are a lot more vulnerable. We should wait for Sepang for judging how much fast are the different teams between them but until now it seems that Red Bull and Mercedes have the edge in qualifying but Ferrari and Lotus looks a bit faster than Red Bull in race pace, and Mercedes is further down in this area. I should congratulate Force India as well, after the big expectations many had (including myself) about the speed of Williams and Sauber, they look the best of the midfielders but we should wait for Sepang to get a clearer picture. And congratulations to Bianchi too, he was the only backmarker driver which didn't get lapped twice, so god job to him.

Great drive by Kimi and great strategy by Lotus.
After first lap, and almost 2 sec. gap by Vettel I thought it will be another boring season opener. Thank God other came to live.
Great race pace by Ferrari and Lotus.
Nice come back for Sutil.
I hope we will have 5-6 possible WDC until last race of the season

It doesn' t matter who wins.
What really matters is to watch a fantastic, interesting race every time, like this one was for example.
It seems this season can be different.
Many teams in fight.
What didn' t fit me was the time of broadcasting!
Definitely- much too early.

The tyres came very close to making the whole thing a farce. Sutil was doing great until he put on a new set of super-softs, at which point he started going backwards in a hurry.

Putting on new tyres is NOT supposed to slow you down. Pireli need to get their act together. Though in fairness to them, they're probably just giving the FIA what they ask for.
