F1 » Second place 'tastes like a win' to Alonso

Fernando Alonso was in high spirits on Sunday evening in Melbourne. He might not have won the race, but he was happy to be starting 2013 on the right foot.

Looking at his reaction on the podium, Fernando looked a bit glum and disappointed, just like Vettel.was, and i am certain that I have seen him happier with most of his 2nd and 3rds last year.
I don't know why he is hiding his disappointment, unlike Vettel who is good enough to say it publicly.

As a team- they did very good job today.
But he smiles outside, cries inside.
Don' t believe is satisfied with his position today.
It' s just PR.

"We had a very difficult start to the season two years ago and last year as well and this year is very different,"

This is getting ridiculous. Getting fourth or fifth in the first race of the season is not in fact "very difficult". What would he have said if he had crashed out yesterday - which he came close to doing a few times - and scored zero points?

And second place is not actually "very different" from fourth or fifth place. It's very different from tenth place or a non-points scoring finish.

Vettel started the 2010 season with a fourth place finish. And then had a DNF in the second race. But he did not spend the next few years going on . and on .. and on... and on.... about what a dreadful beginning he had to the season.

Logically, the numbers 4 or 5 are not very different from the number 2 when the range of possibilities ranges from 1 to 20.
