What on earth are Macca doing?

They had the fastest car at the end of last year. Now they've made an all new car that is slower.
And the regs are to be changed next year so they can't develop this car past the end of this season!??

Whitmarsh sounds as if he has no clue what is going on.

How can a set up error in testing make them think the car is better than it really is?

What a load of bull!!
They are a team on the way down fast now!
No Hamilton for speed and set up skills and no Paddy Lowe or Vodafone from next year either.

Remember Williams used to be the dominant team not so long ago and look how quickly they fell down the ranks. Mclaren are going the same way. As much as Hamilton could be a pain they are going to miss him this year.

If there car is that bad and they know and admit it to themselves, they should just treat the next couple of races as testing. Dispense with the pressures of trying to win and get on fixing what is broken.

Or is there a rule that says you can not do that.
Answers on a postcard.

Given the budget and resources McClaren have this will have to go down as one of the biggest c...-ups in the teams history and they've had a few. It beggers belief they can come out with a car that is nearly three seconds of the pace. Teams spend millions trying to find a hundredth of a second, how much is it going to cost to find three seconds. Given that they have to have a totally new car for next year anyway this was a huge mistake to make a new car just for this year. I'm guessing but I would think they will have to go back to last years car and concentrate on next season as by the time they sort themselves out the season will be half over and they will have no chance of either championships. I feel sorry for Perez this could just finish his F1 career. As for Mr Button, he said it was the best car they had ever made, I've wondered about him for some time...........

Oldtimer I agree Ive NEVER rated Button ever totally over hyped by the British press in my opinion has a few lucky/jammy wins every year due to the weather and safety cars etc.. This years car was supposed to be geared around his style of driving not Hamilton's as thats the reason he was SO SLOW last season!
You go to ask yourself 1 pole in 3 years! honestly the guy just doesnt cut it at this level.
The car is obviously a dog but it needs a Hamilton, Vettel, Kimi type of driver to drag it around the track kicking and screaming, Button and Perez just cannot do that

Twenty years ago, it may have been possible for a good driver to wring the neck of a bad car and get a good result. This is not the case anymore, the cars don't allow this. Look how many times in free practice the cars are paired by team all the way down the timing chart.

Yes Button may not be the outright fastest driver out there but he has a better racing brain than most. You don't win races with three teams and a WDC by being bad driver do you!

Firstly - This website is shocking and annoying waiting for Advertising to load.

Second - Here we go again with the Jenson bashing. ITS A TEAM SPORT...... or want to deny that now too.

If Hamilton is amazing why did he finish 5th, If Vettle is amazing why did he not win the race from Pole.

S$$t happens, yes McL have co&ked up but they will be back. I hate it when people are so critical about how crap drivers are. They are all in F1 for a reason. Get over it.

They could keep a lot of the chassis and aero stuff I suppose.

Just I'd have thought it would be better to wait and tailor it to the new engine. Rather than spend $$ now on a design which doesn't seem to be working with the present engine..

McLaren seem to have hit the ground running like headless chickens this year.

I hope I'm wrong and the car works better at the other circuits.
