my god! ONE poorish result on a cold track, and everybody is calling for removal of whitmarsh. i am not a particular fan of macca, but ALL teams have their ups and downs. it they didnt, the pages would be full of complaints about domination.
funny how those calling for whitmarsh to be removed, are those who dont want brawn, or domencalli etc removed. brawn has made a far greater pigs dinner of the merc, yet some still call him the greatest.

there is little doubt that macca will come on stronger during the season, and what would you be saying if macca ended up winning wdc and/or wdc?

give them some time to try and solve any problem that might exist.

A quote from Button in Feb: "I know the engineers have left absolutely no stone unturned in wringing every ounce of performance from every available area," declared Button. "This year's car is the best we've ever made." lmao

"Button had a hand in developing the BAR Honda and we all know how that went"

Are you talking about 2004 when Button drove the BAR to third place behind the all dominant Ferrari's or 2009 when he won the WDC?

Both cars which he had a hand in developing and setting up?

Or perhaps you're talking about the first McLaren he drove that he also had a hand in developing - the MP4-26. You know, the one he drove to 2nd place in the WDC behind the all conquering Red Bull.

You remember, the year he became the first ever team mate to beat Hamilton and beat him by more points in 1 year than Hamilton managed to beat him by in 2 years.

Most I know and work with who follow the sport with a degree of knowledge (that rules 75% of the unregistered posters here) all agree Whitmarsh has to go, even diehard McLaren agree.

He's a politician and likes too much of the limelight, reminds me of Nick Fry and that's not a complement.

Bob, please check your facts. BAR have never won a World championship. Button never won a WDC with BAR. During its entire existence, BAR won a race. That's ONE race, just as Torro Rosso won a race.

I would say that if you win ONE race in 4/5 years (that's over 80 races), that win is not a true reflection of your performance, but the misfortune of the top teams and drivers on that specific day.

That WDC won by Button (with Brawn GP, not BAR) is just another proof of his inability to develop and even drive a car competitively. Brawn took the very same car that BAR and Button could not win a race with, transformed it with some inovative ideas (adding a DD), and made it a world champion. Those are facts.
BAR was second (not third as you stated) in the constructor's championship in 2004. But what you faill to mention is that Button was relatively new to the team as he came in a year earlier in replacement of Olivier Panis. I don't think he had any significant input on the development of

all team bosses are under pressure. whitmarsh is doing a good job through what is proving to be a difficult persiod for McLaren. I seem to remember Ron Dennnis overseeing a dry spell for McLaren in the 90's and no one ever complains - oh wait most of the moaners are Lewis Loonies for whom Uncle Ron is untouchable(!)

Memories of Sir Frank bombing JB out of Williams very quickly after recognizing the lack of talent..... Memories of JB crashing in the warm-up lap of the Italian GP in 2000.

I feel really sorry for Macca, what the hell were they thinking by letting LuLu go???

As for JB beating LuLu, I put that down to LuLu personal life and his issues with his fit missus which took his eye of the ball ( weve all been there as men!!) a major distraction.... You cant put this down to JB being a better driver than LuLu

Bottom line is LuLu is Champions League quality and JB is Championship Quality

Mark....it's all about qualy!!...With these bull rubbish tyres and pay drivers to deal with you wanna be as far in front as possible. .Most of the top cars are all within a 1.0. .qualy is everything. .which when this question was posed to McLaren by the media (after the appointment of another poor qualifier in the guise of Perez) they had the same answer as you 'qualy isn't everything'...unbelievable! ...It's be said Vodafone jumped coz of Bahrain. .I have my doubts on that. .

Richard. ..it's not one poor result. .it's spans back to when he took the helm from Dennis. .it's been gaff after gaff after gaff..pit stop errors. .mechanical errors tactical errors. .the subject matter goes on and on. .much like me :)
You mentioned Ross Brawn. .yes, I agree it didn't work out well to start with. .I've reason to believe it was a mistake takin on Schumacher. .
Now he's gone things are looking brighter. even Totto has had a change of heart since testing in Spain.
Totto has even said he doesn't know where Paddy is gonna fit in. .i guess it all depends on how the season pans out. .what luxury!

One of the main problems with Mclaren right now is their now consistent habit to make poor design and strategical decisions. The just do not learn from their mistakes at all, they keep on making them over and over, and over, and over again......
