Well he's certainly proved a few of the regular posters on here wrong!! How they must hate it when he gets a good result and he will get quite a few this year.
Definately the right decision to change teams look at the shambes Mclaren are in!
I bet Whitmarsh would secretly like Hamilton back for the next qualifying session just to see just how fast that car really is!!

mmm . . . qualified third, finished fifth . . . seems to be where they were at the start of last season, I think he had the legs on Nick this time though, looking forward to see who gets the upper hand in Malaysia

And Vettel qualified First and finished Third.
Just goes to prove that those 2 drivers are the 2 fastest men over a lap and can put the car in qualifying where it really does not belong

Sure did impress me. I hope he fairs a lot better this season than MS did, as long as MB gives him a reliable car which was what I believe kept Michael from doing much better than he did.

there was nothing impressive from Hamilton in Australia...he & Rosberg proved that Merc is still where they were at last year..5th & a DNF , plus Ham did no different than what he did at McLunker for the last 4 seasons...qualified at or near the top of the grid and then poceeded to drop back a number of places...quit mollie coddling this guy fanboyz he is not the best driver ever in F1 or currently on the grid by a long shot...if anyone was impressive it was Sutil , Massa , Raikonen...Ferrari & Lotus teams , not Merc or Hamilton IMHO

Yes, he was 5th. at least he didnt finish 9th or 11th.
the reason why mclaren built a new car was to remove hamiltons dna from this years car. we all know that car was built around him with his agressive style.
the problem is that by reducing that agressivesness, it has expose jensen when a car is built around him. they cant bring in updates because they cant understand what the problem is. THERE IS AN OLD SAYING, A BUFALLO DOSNT KNOW THE VALUE OF ITS TAIL UNTIL ITS CUT OFF.

@acherco

I think you make a good point , i thought they were also trying to get a head start for 2014 by starting development now and using this car for 2014 with modifications but it looks like it back fired in their face and exposed major weakness in McLaren, the car is useless because the driver who gave/gives feedback is useless , can't blame perez or lewis

hamilton is the ultimate competitor! he knows when to give it all and when to hold back. all the guys at mclaren didn't know his intentions until they offered him a pay cut but i suspected he planned his move before parting ways with his dad, simply because when asked about when he'd have a manager, he simply said be doesn't need one after all he's not near contract negotiation yet. he knew he knew there'd be a team willing to take him on if he left mclaren and was on his best behaviour until the end when he pushed them to give him a reason not to resign with them by tweeting their telemetry data.
the only person who could out negotiate hamilton is ecclestone because he has the ultimate power.
