I think he lost his front wing when he made contact with Van der Garde. Which resulted in a early pitstop and a puncture for the caterham. Both Chilton an Van der Garde have a lot to learn and they have limited time (or funds) to do so.

I am a couple of year older than Chilton and raced in the same team as him karting. He was talentless then as he is now. He won one race, the Rome cup in its last year with 12 entrants and that was it. He has never won a championship and is it a surprise he is racing in F1 with a family worth well over £100m, daddy is the proprietor of Carlin who in turns is financialy linked with Marussia!
Bianchi was great in karts, won championships on the european scene karting and in lower formula and only just got a drive thanks to another driver loosing financial backing. Fastest lap was 1.8 seconds quicker than Chilton under the same strategy and same clean air running.
Embarrasing that with all the UK young talent (which there is a lot) its Chilton who represents us.
