Lol complains about the tyres he's been winning championships on. All because it was a race he should have won. Didn't hear him complaining about them after interlagos last year. Kimi got through the race using a two stop strategy. You don't see it because he is so good and things usually go his way but when they don't this guy can be a bit of a sook.

It hould be noted that Redbull have over the years developed an artificial ride height system called a Hydraulic Pitch Bar which allows the car to run at mnimum ride height in all fuel load and aero load conditions. It uses the fact that fluid is incompressible an acts as an anti squat, anti dive system.

I simplistic terms, chambers at either end of the car conncted by a fluid balance line. This allowed Newey to develop the aero around very stable platform with the car always in qualifying aero trim and rake angle. It first appeared on the RB6 rumours suggest.

Add to this the introduction of exhaust hot blowing and the postion of the exhaust gases and you had a car that could overcome its power deficit and "switch on" the tyres for one lap qualifying and stay that way in the race because of stable ride height and heat manged tyres though exhaust blowing. Thus every time a Redbull left the startline in pole position it could open up sufficient gap to stay outside of the DRS zone wit

@Pitchbar

That is some amazing info. Well amazing in the sense that we always knew there had to be something going on but if that's it it's great that we now know what.

However where's the source...the technique sounds plausible and explains the difference in the delta between RBR's quali and race pace respective to other teams in the last couple of years so whoever came up with it is quite smart, however...was it Newey or a dude in a tinfoil hat?
