Sebastian Vettel needs to win with another team in order to secure himself a place in the pantheon of grand prix greats, according to David Coulthard.

If Seb wins the WDC this year and makes it four in a row, history will remember him as one of the greats of the modern era regardless. As time goes by the Newey factor will recede into the background just as the Chapman factor has in our assessment of the great Jim Clark.

Dont forget when hamilton had the fastest car is 2007 he throw away the wdc. And nearly did the same in 2008. seb may have the quickest car but hes used it to good effect. The same cant b said for webber. Seb also made that tororosso look very quick not only at monza buy at other events.

Alonso knows Seb would blow him away at Ferrari thats why he veetoed the move for 2014 or 2015 for Vettel to join Ferrari, in fact Fernando should concentrate on out qualifying Massa because in recent races he's having trouble in that department, I see now if Felipe was on the form in late 2008 its almost like he would have been too much to handle for Alonslow just like it was for Kimi, and Seb would just make Alonslow look like a joke, as for Sham, pfft good luck in that Mercedes I'm sure history will confine you to the likes of Jaques Villeneuve, Damon Hill, Pitrese, Barrichello or Irvine, happy scrapping with Rosberg for years to come good luck.

Alonso has never been in a team with another world champion. Neither has Raikkonen. Why don't I see articles calling their greatness into question?

Fangio never competed against a teammate who was world champion. Nor did Schumacher, or Stewart. In fact most champions never had champion teammates.

Which leaves you to wonder why people keep coming up with these idiotic tests which Vettel - and only Vettel - has to pass.

Senna won all his WDC's with McLaren. Alonso won both his with Renault. Using the standards applied to Vettel - "he has to win with another team" - both Senna and Alonso fall short.

But that's the curious thing about the standards people impose on Vettel - they never impose them on any other driver.

"There is this thing about cementing a place in history and it does seem to mean winning championships with different teams."

Hamilton has won zero championships with a different team. Alonso has won zero championships with a different team. There are no drivers currently active who have won championships with more than one team.

Yet we never see Hamilton or Alonso's greatness being questioned.

Ayrton Senna won all three of his WDC's with one team and wit the best car in F1. Yet he's considered the single greatest driver in history.

Seriously 'Crash' ....... why do you allow this dribble from oldies like Stewart/ Hill/ Coulthard etc? I guess if Fangio was around, he'd say "Until they've won in a front engined car blah blah blah "

I don't think Vettel has the guts to change teams. He's too comfortable at Redbull with all the winning. He would be like a fish out of water. He wouldn't know what to do with himself. I would love to see him prove me wrong.
