F1 » Vettel: I messed up, I'm sorry

Sebastian Vettel: I owe an explanation to Mark and to the team and that's it. Everyone else obviously has the right to have their own opinions but for sure it is not a victory that I'm very proud of because it should have been Mark's.

We all have our opinions but the only opinion that really counts is Christian Horner's. This is what he said:

He knew what the communication was. He had the communication. He chose to ignore it. He put his interest beyond what the team's position was.

Tough words for a public forum and I think Seb's relationship with the team principles may have been significantly damaged. You can p*** off your teammate but you better not p**** off the boss.

Why is no one heaping damnation on Mercedes its dentical team order that advantaged Hamilton over Rosberg as is being clamoured for Webber? Webber should have forced the issue on the track like Hamiltion did. When Rosberg initially overtook him as he flattened out, Hamilton made clear he WOULD RACE Rosberg by immediately re-overtaking him. Obviously, if they continued like this, he, or both of them, would have ran out of fuel before race end. That is what forced Mercedes' hand. When Vettel attacked him, Webber folded down. He should have fought back instead of moaning later on international TV for sympathy. You got mine Mark. Vettel has the points!

Weber was given a pace to drive, much in the way Jackie Stewart used to say, win at the slowest possible speed. From no on however expect him to be much more wary of Vettel. Vettel took some big slices of time out of the lead in the couple of laps before passing. Weber will protect himself much more in future.

LOL! Just shows that ALL sports are farcical! Particularly F1. Why shouldn't a guy win if he can? Sour grapes all around.

How many times hasn't this happened before where the best guy on the day is ORDERED to lose?

He is a formidable driver.....but hot headed. it is not the first time he has disobeyed team orders or driven aggressively.
I feel if he does not calm down he will hurt himself or someone else.
He is a great driver and what we have to remember is Senna, Michel Schumacher were all aggressive and at times dangerous, perhaps is trying to mimic them

alex. more info is coming out. the team told the drivers to hold station as they are at the end of the pit stops on lap 43. on lap 43, vettel was coming down the straight flat out, and webber was exiting pit lane. now, as they entered corner, seb was actually slightly ahead on the outside, but webber, on the inside was able to hold the line and edge ahead. now..at what point do you decide who is ahead? it seems possible that as seb had caught webber and was travelling faster, he could have assumed that he was actually the oneahead. similsrly, webber could assume that he was ahead, as he held the inside lane. ted kraviz also stated that there was evidence of ambiguity about the instruction . what that was, i dont know. contd

contd. as regards the comment that webber made "hold 21", this was a reference to an engine map that webber was advised to use to save fuel. presumably seb also got the message?

zib. thanks for you request, but i have already replied. i turned on the tv to watch a RACE, not an exercise in team manipulation. i SAW a race for 1 and 2, and saw team manipulation for 3 and 4.

whatever about seb disobeying team orders, that is a matter for the team. at least they will know that he is not to be messed with in future.
