F1 » Vettel: I messed up, I'm sorry

Sebastian Vettel: I owe an explanation to Mark and to the team and that's it. Everyone else obviously has the right to have their own opinions but for sure it is not a victory that I'm very proud of because it should have been Mark's.

Richard....Horner said quite unambiguously that Vettel did not obey team orders, and Vetel has admitted that (see the other Crash story) Forget all that lap 43 nonsense.

Exactly, Richard.

We watched the whole race and thought Seb had beaten Mark to P1 but Mark got the advantage from being inside. It was close and Seb chased him down with the most exciting overtaking of the race!

That's why i find it a bit odd that Mark said he was on cruising mode, cos it was not a foregone conclusion that he would come out 1st when he boxed, and he would know or have seen Seb speeding down on his right....

If you did not watch the race and just read some of the articles and comments online, you would think that Mark was way ahead and cruising when Seb sneaked up on full speed to "steal" his win.

Mark has often ignored team orders so he can't have it both ways

What was done, was done and is there for the world to see. Mark and Mr Vettel defined themselves, in veru differente ways. Hats off to Mark! Now, Red Bull's management have to define themselves and I am sure that Red Bull's major shareholder will have a strong input on that. After all, RB's brand is also at stake. What do I expect? That RB imposes a two-race ban on Mr Vettel and a fine equal to 20% of his annual contact. If Mr Vettel wants to leave and go to Ferrari, let him go... now.

Watch the race. Took a nap. Had a naughty dream.

Why would RBR put in a team order so soon in the season. Its only the second race.
If Marko insist that MW is the no.2 driver, then why the team instruct SV to fall back and maintain the gap? Surely they want their no.1 driver to win the race ala LH.
If they are on equal status, then let them race like the had done for the past 4 years. Tires seems to hold up quite well.

Worth considering - odds of SV winning 11/5 MW 20/1.

You are talking rubbish Richard.
Yes Vettel was coming down the pitstraight flat, they all did in the race , Mark defended his position, and held him off, for over 2 laps, and RB asked for them both then to turn down their engines and hold position (multi 21 code). Mark did this then Seb continued to attack, and Mark under the orignal instruction duly back out of a dangerous move and rather thanpush Seb wide and collide, did the safe move, and recinded.
This is exactly the same as Turkey 2010 when the engines were supposedly turned down on both cars.....Mark did the right thing this time, and Seb did not. The difference between Red Bull and Merc is They have 1 Manager on the pit wall who is respected by both drivers, ie Ross Braun. Red Bull have a weak team Manager in Chistian Horner who is belittled by other team heirachy when this type of event occurs. This was the case today in the pitlane when Helmut Marko was interviewed.......Alonso will win in China by the way....!!

That's the problem. I'd say that ninety percent of the commenters here shooting their mouths off NEVER WATCHED THE RACE. They base their opinions entirely on a few shoddily written stories they read.

Nobody who watched Webber try to run Vettel into the wall could buy this silly fantasy about the poor choir boy being bushwhacked by the sneaky German.
