F1 » Vettel: I messed up, I'm sorry

Sebastian Vettel: I owe an explanation to Mark and to the team and that's it. Everyone else obviously has the right to have their own opinions but for sure it is not a victory that I'm very proud of because it should have been Mark's.

@KartRacer. Thanks for the laughs. It always reinforces my belief that everything is right in the world when I see hypocrisy such as yours prevailing. Care to elaborate on how exactly this would be damaging to the Red Bull brand? Them using team orders in the first place is the only thing that would damage the brand of a company that strives to be seen as pushing the boundaries and always taking it to the maximum. If I recall correctly Mr. Mateschitz has always said he wants to see both drivers racing each other. These were also the teams, and the same applies to all you commentators, who were pretty much calling Ferrari cheats because of their grid place antics in Austin last year. Consistency dear sirs consistency. On another note. Still only one article with a couple of comments on the actual farce of the race, as in the Merc team orders.

Vettel will do it again. Why? because he can. Horner is to weak to stand up to him. Horner should have told him to yield the place after he ignored team orders. It would have sent the message out loud and clear who is in charge.

@suedois

Actually, Sergio Perez told Spanish papers few days ago that he was often asked by Ferrari to "take care" of Alonso while he was driving the Ferrari-engined Sauber. You can Google it. Many recalled Malaysia 2012 when Alonso won....

Just wondered whether what Ross Brawn did today is considered "race fixing" from a betting standpoint... While i feel for Nico, i was the happy beneficiary of that team order.

I think they should completely get rid of ship to shore radio and just use the pit board. Let the drives work it out for them selfs. Too much bullshite in F1. Well done Seb.

had webber won this race he would have led vettel in the standings. maybe redbull really does treat their drivers equally and vettel of course being aware of this he had no choice but to do what he did. the team order probably had everything to do with the ridiculously crappy tyres that pirelli produces this year. had webber and vettel raced to the finish one of them or both would more likely then not have crashed. same thing at mercedes. i blame pirelli for those team orders.

Ignoring team orders isn't very clever, BUT....

What did you prefer watching today, the two RBR drivers racing balls out for the win and the faster driver getting the win or the two Mercedes drivers following team orders so that the slower driver got on the podium?
