Mark Webber: I think it's very early days right now, it's very raw, obviously, and we need to work out how the team goes best forwards from here

John, the WDC certainly has the prestige in the media and fandom but I wonder what the actual teams think about that.

I'm not entirely confident that given a choice the team would take a WDC over a WCC. I could be wrong though as I'm not privy to the internal workings of the teams.

"vettel was scared out of his mind with the idea that webber would win and lead him in the points"

Priceless ignorance. Vettel would have led Webber on points regardless of the order he finished in with Webber.

The difference is that he'd be only 2 points ahead of Kimi now instead of 9. Seb has a WDC to try to win, he can't be giving charity points to Webber.

I have been saying for some time that Vettel could quite well end being the product of his own doom. There must be something about being German that makes you an ****hole

"I'm not entirely confident that given a choice the team would take a WDC over a WCC. "

Every year Ferrari prioritizes the WDC over the WCC. The entire team is built around one single goal - making Alonso champion. In all the talk about the F138 how often dd you hear Ferrari people saying "We hope with this car we can challenge for the WCC"?

" There must be something about being German that makes you an ****hole "

There must be something about being British which gives you a huge inferiority complex with respect to the Germans.

"The difference is that he'd be only 2 points ahead of Kimi now instead of 9."

Looking at it from a few other perspectives. There are other scenarios that could've played out there.

1. Seb on softer tyres uses them all after Mark also decides to ignore the team and turns his engine back up to fight, loosing all points in this race.
2. Seb blows an engine in a future race for not conserving parts loosing all points in that future race.
3. Sebs tyre wear gets extreme to the point where he drops back to a lower position sacrificing points.
4. Both guys crash duking it out
5. Gear box failure gives Seb a penalty in a later race for not conserving parts.

Admittedly none of those scenarios happened, but this is now with the benefit of hindsight. When the team was making the call to conserve they were thinking about those what ifs quite a bit I'd imagine.

There was vettel crying to the team again to let him through which meant he jus couldnt pass mark with them having identical power. Mark carried on obeying team orders even when he was under attack from vettel and still gave a good fight.

See why now there had to be gentlemen in the old days when your life was at risk rather than now when any spoilt brat can race an f1 car and there comes a situation like this. There is hardly respect amongst teams and almost a complete loss of sportmanship.
