Nico Rosberg: Of course, it was disappointing for me having to hold position but I understand the team's decision to safeguard our positions...

Nico does know that he was only fastest when Hami was told to slow down because mercedes underestimated how quick Lewis would be.. Until that point in a straight race Lewis was again quicker..

They were both evenly matched again. At no point was Hamilton consistently pulling away from Rosberg - as in Australia check the gaps between the two drivers it's all there to see. If Hamilton was told later on in the race to slow down then tough luck on him, but why should that have to effect Rosberg's race who could clearly have breezed past without out any danger to either driver. No, the team just wanted their new expensive signing to get the podium.
Trouble is the incident has set a precedent and now Rosberg will have to make sure he does not become another "Massa".

They were both running the same pace so it stands to reason they would both be tight on fuel, If Ham and Ros had been allowed to race it was highly probable one or both cars would have failed to finish due to lack of fuel, that is why Ros was told to run at Hamiltons pace.

In the interview with Toto Wolff he intimated he was to show the data to Rosberg to fully understand the teams concern and decision.

@ HRC I've read they where in fact fuelled differently.
Rosberg had not been told to slow down as Hamilton had

Why therefore the need for Toto to explain this to Rosberg after the race. If it was true, he needed to be told during the race That was just PR spin. The radio messages from Brawn to Rosberg just basically said "no", "stand down" etc, but no mention that Rosberg had to save fuel.

@Chris - Yes, but also heard Brawn o the radio to Rosberg saying "Lewis can go fast as well but at the moment this is the pace we want you to run, run at lewis pace".

@Cabeto & HRC
Yes I heard that too so not dozing. Didn't say why though did he? Well he couldn't actually say "it's because I want Lewis on the podium".
And in fact Lewis could not go as fast as Rosberg because he was low on fuel. So Ross was actually contradicting himself.
