F1 » Hamilton: 'No fun' with these tyres

Lewis Hamilton: It's not the same as back in the day when you had stints where you are pushing to the maximum the whole time...

These tires are stupid! We need a tire war again. At least 2 manufactures for tires. If the FIA give a reason of cost control, then why are there so many engine manufactures? There should just be one in that case. Le Mans at least is more exciting in terms of technical regs.

Totally agree with Lewis. It's just gone too far. 2010 was a great season. 5 drivers leading the championship at different times, great racing, controversies, nailbiting last race (ruined by one of the worst Tilke circuits), all before DRS and 'off-the-cliff' Pirellis!

As seen in my previous post, I am not a fan of these tyres but most of you seem to forget that this is not the fault of Pirelli, they are fulfilling the contract from the F.I.A. They, ie Todt, are the ones to blame.

I think they should construct tires that last for 20 to 25 laps without falling off. They should build two compounds that are as much as a second different in terms of pace. They should demand each car run both compounds and make a minimum of two pitstops. And they should seriously consider refuelling, with tanks that hold enough fuel for two thirds of a race, forcing one fuel stop from a gravity fed tank, and allowing teams to start light and pit early if they want. The DRS has more than taken care of the inability to pass issue.

In a series supposedly based on leading edge technology and "pushing the envelope", frankly, driving on anything other than the very best tyres the supplier can produce is farcical and is an insult to F1 and its devotees. A ridiculous rule. As is the artificial you-can-only-flap-your-wing-when-following-within-a-second rule. But worst of all, the most ridiculous rule of them all is the ban on testing. What other sport on Earth bans TRAINING?
