While there have been instances of drivers coming from behind and winning WDC, but I doubt if Button has that capability if the cars are all of equal performance. Unless McLaren gets a substantial gain over all others, it is difficult for Button to outperform all the drives in equal machinery. There are many drivers there now who have good chances: Vettel, Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamiton and even Massa or Rosberg. Webber is thereabouts, but he has to first beat his own teammate which is doubtful. Button should expect everyone to have an avergae year, while he has his own best. The probability is very low. He shoulds core top-5 positions (if not better) in the next two races to be realistic.

Jenson 2013 WDC?

So he thinks he can beat Seb, Fandango, Lewis, Kimi & even Mark.... I doubt it very much Jenson. You only have a few good races out of the 19 or so in the season. I dare say you will have balance problems in China, you will probably qualify 7th or 8th and maybe finish the race at best 6th. I think its a safer bet to say you will not win the WDC this year. Infact if anybody wants to have a bet with me I will put up my house!

Any takers?

Car was designed for him, if you believe what he says. At launch, it was the best car that McLaren had ever built. Guess what, it isn't. Reality bites. The decision to go with a completely new car for 2013 will, I think, backfire. McLaren are now on the backfoot and playing catch up. It's going to take a lot from the whole team to come back.
