F1 » Massa on cusp of inflicting new low on Alonso

The qualifying 'battle' between Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso will be one of the things to watch in Shanghai next weekend.

Alonso has had a slow start to his season, and Massa has pulled his finger out to be where he should be in one of the front running cars, near the front.

I think that in a few races time people will have forgotton this and Alonso will have re established his rightful position in the team by doing his job on the track.

That said, I am glad that Massa "is back" because I did fear for his F1 career right up till the end of last season. With paying drivers with big sponsors coming in, the paid drivers have to perform. Massa knows this as well as anybody, and if he keep up his current form, It will perhaps help him get a good midfield team place, rather than shown the exit when his time at Ferrari comes to an end.

What an asshole that Massa! Isn't he just supposed to get out of Ferdi's way? What in hell has he been thinking outperforming "The World's Most Complete Driver?" He should be tarred and feathered.

Ptolemy - Really ? You think Felipe should purposely do bad in quali just to make Ferdi look better. You're meant to get the best spot possible in quali no matter what, whether your no.1 or 2 in a team. Like everybody here has said Ferdi is not great at quali but race pace, so big deal if Massa outqauli's him.

Ptolemy,

Absolutely correct. It's disgraceful. Does he not realise his contract says he is to drive two tenths slower than Fernando, not two tenths quicker. The team is built around Fernando, and Felippe is there to help Fernando to the title, not himself. How dare Felippe dream of winning a WDC.

Note to some readers who take the literal approach to interpretation of everything posted - Please do not take the above comment literally. I suggest the same can be said for Ptolemy's post.

This would be interesting if felipe could out race fernando, not just out qualify.

Felipe is like a wounded duck when the race starts...
Why are we accepting mediocrity, he's still not up to standard..

i think to much is made out of this...Yes Massa form has increased..but its just 2 race down..premature to outclass fernando....not a FA fan...but he will comeback...very strongly
