F1 » Massa on cusp of inflicting new low on Alonso

The qualifying 'battle' between Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso will be one of the things to watch in Shanghai next weekend.

Alonso kept Ferrari in the running for a WDC right up to the last race of last season, in a car what was widely believed to be not as good as the Red Bull it was up against.

Add that to his previous record in the sport and his current salary, and that is why he has the number 1 status in the car.

I know we all know this, but some people are posting on here like they have forgotton and we are only 2 races in.

I can assure you that NONE of his competitors on the grid, including massa have written him off for 2013! lol

All the same - Go Massa!!

Lets not get carried away. Massa is a good driver, not a great one. If you were betting on either of them, you'd always pick Alonso to win the race. He's faster over all, not just a few laps here and there. Lets not forget, had Massa not been injured a few years back, I suspect he would have been away from Ferrari by now. Massa come acros as being a nice guy, but so did Barichello.

To be completely fair, I agree with Skooter. Except when he has been on pole, Felipe starts towards the front but tends to slip backwards in races, whereas Alonso starts towards the front and stays there...or wins the race. Also, if you listen to a lot of the radio communication with their engineers over the years, you almost always hear Rob Smedley micro-managing Massa and going: "C'mon boy! Keep pushing! You need to overtake that car in front of you. You can do this!"

Andrea Stella on the other hand, doesn't have to do this. He just watches his man in action and drools: "Beauuuutiful!........Belliisimo! We are proud of you"
