Let stop beating around the bush. Nico need mercedes more than mercedes need him. If he's being asked to hold station again, he will. If he defied them and sacked, which team will take him without some serious financial backing? there's no other way but down.

gazza. nobody in their right mind gives up in a race! maybe nico could have pressured the bulls, particularly as they could take each other out, or as webber was doing, run out of fuel. so a team manager should have wanted presure to be kept on the bulls.
and remember, webber had been backing up vettel into reach of the mercs, earlier in the race, and had been told to speed up! anything can happen (and did) so hobbling a driver makes absolutely NO sense.

Simply put.
LH is the flagship driver at Merc. £20m says so.
He certainly is a bigger draw than Nico and helps Merc raise their F1 appeal to both sponsors, merchandising and fans!
He IS a talented driver. Possibly given a car with a tyre to last and a full on race to the edge freedom, only arguably surpassed by Alonso.
He brings far more experience than Nico in race wins and the prestige of a WDC

Well said Taipan.

Aveli you are joking or being sarcastic surely? Hamilton hasnt won anything.
Hes always had the best car (apart from 1 year) and achieved nothing at all apart from filling his bank account. Vettel has thrashed him every year and he cant cope with it.

was it my imagination or did Vettel only just make it to the line, I seem to recall he was swerving to the finish line from the last corner, wonder if he was running out of fuel as well, if he had and not made the finish I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the debrief

Nico's car broke when he was behind his team mate in the first race, making it 10 nil to Hamilton, then the team basically ordered him to stay behind his team mate in Malaysia handing Hamilton a twelve point championship advantage going into round three, not bad for an equal depending on which equal you ask

@"lets say vettel took Webber out when he was jostling for position what would he say then ?"

Let's say Hamilton came into the wrong pits ... oops, bad example, that actually happened ... let's say Hamilton crashed into the wall, what would he say then?

It's a stupid question because Hamilton did NOT crash into the wall, just as Vettel did NOT take Webber out.
